
Surakshya Panta
Surakshya Panta (born 2 Feb, 1992) is a prominent Nepalese actress, creative director, and producer who has made a significant impact on both domestic and international cinema. Born on February 20, 1992, in Butwal, Nepal, she initially pursued a technical career, earning a degree in civil engineering from Kathmandu Engineering College and later an MSc in Integrated Water Resources Management. Her transition into the entertainment industry began as a media personality and VJ before she made her acting debut in the 2015 film Ajhai Pani. She rose to widespread fame with her performance in the blockbuster Dhanapati (2017) and solidified her critical standing with her award-winning role in Aama (2019), for which she won the National Film Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Beyond her work in Nepal, Panta achieved international recognition as the first Nepali actor to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. This milestone coincided with her international debut in the Italian film The Eight Mountains, which won the Jury Prize at Cannes. Her diverse portfolio includes notable roles in films like Gopi, Changa Chet, and Bulaki, as well as a significant presence in music videos, including the widely discussed Pir. Panta is married to Manav Subedi and continues to be a highly influential figure in the Nepali arts, winning Best Actor at the 2026 Nepal International Film Festival for Kosedhunga.
