
Petros Markaris
Novelist, playwright, screenwriter and translator, Petros Markaris was born in Istanbul, studied economics and since 1976 has been working as a freelance writer. His detective novels ("Night Bulletin", "Defense Zone", "Che Killed himself", "Major Shareholder", "Old, very old", "Overdue Loans") are published in fourteen languages and his hero, the policeman Haritos , is one of the most popular detective heroes in Europe. He collaborated with Theodoros Angelopoulos in many of his film scripts. He has also translated into Greek the works of Brecht, Wedekind, Schnitzler.
